The assembly of bolted joints, using torque as a measure of joint tightness, has plagued the fastener industry for years. It is well known that errors in target joint clamp load (bolt tension) of up to 50% can result using this tightening method. The Clarke Heavy-Duty Torque-Tension Tester accurately correlates tightening tool torque to bolt tension prior to installation to virtually eliminate loose and broken bolts in structural and mill liner applications.
